Cluster Headache Warrior

I have been at war with Cluster Headaches for over 20 years now. I am not a doctor, but I consider myself a budding expert in my own personal pain and pain relief.

This blog is a journal of my battle with this condition. I could have really used this a long time ago, but I suspect it's better late than never. I am sharing this journal publicly (and anonymously) in the hopes that others can benefit from my experiences and from what I've learned.

If you are interested in exploring an option shared here I urge you to take caution as some of my methods are somewhat extreme and can be dangerous for those with heart conditions. Please consult your doctor prior to attempting anything you read from this blog.

    TOTAL HEADACHES TODAY:
    1
    TIME OF CH ATTACK ONSET:
    4:30 am
METHOD OF CH ATTACK ABORTION USED:  Treadmill: warm up for 2 minutes setting 4, run for 3 minutes setting 6, bump to setting 6.5 and run for 7 minutes, cool-down run for 2 minutes at setting 3.  Distance: 1.3 miles.  Peak heart rate: 180.  I also took a Sumatriptan (Imitrex) 100 mg tablet after, prophylactically.

    NOTES

Not much to report since this morning.  I’ve felt some tightness in my head most of the day today, but I didn’t have a second headache.  I regret not getting a chance to ride my motorcycle today, but the dizziness was still too much.  Hopefully that will be gone tomorrow and I can get a ride in.  Also didn’t work out today as I had planned, since I started the day with a long run to kill that headache.  I’m going to try to get in a workout tomorrow.
